JLGA collaborated with Fordham University to transform a former office suite in McMahon Hall into a dynamic 5,000 sq. ft. fitness center for students and faculty. The center includes dedicated areas for cardio and weight training, along with fitness studios for yoga, dance, and spinning. Additional renovations feature a conference room, locker facilities, and a reconfiguration of the security, reception, and entry areas, alongside upgraded mechanical systems.
To address the space’s tight dimensions and low ceiling heights, JLGA employed strategic mirrors and a light color palette, visually expanding the interior and enhancing its openness. The redesign also revitalizes the building’s exterior with expansive glass elements that punctuate the previously solid brick façade. This not only floods the interior with natural light but also highlights the center’s activity, attracting attention from passersby.
