The suite includes exam rooms, stress/echo cardiograph rooms, a nuclear medicine suite, and staff offices, seamlessly blending functionality with a soothing atmosphere. A dedicated area for a diagnostic nuclear camera features lead-lined walls, a specialized humidifier, and a control station behind a glass viewing wall. Thoughtfully designed to maximize natural light, the entrance area opens to the building's atrium, while perimeter exam rooms offer views to the outside. Carefully chosen materials, finishes, and color palettes distinguish clinical spaces from diagnostic and administrative areas, guiding patients effortlessly through the facility. This cutting-edge facility supports a range of imaging equipment, including an 11T Small Animal MRI, MicroPET, IVIS Spectrum, and animal surgery and housing spaces. JLGA faced two significant challenges: first, supporting the weight of the MRI machine required the installation of new steel supports within the building's tight ceiling space. Second, to accommodate the MRI’s large magnet, part of the building's façade was removed to allow a crane to lift the magnet into place. Additional steel shims and a copper Faraday cage were incorporated to address magnetic and RF-shielding concerns. The suite’s Wet Lab is designed with flexible, movable lab benches and worktables to meet future needs. The facility also includes offices, imaging analysis stations, and individual researcher workstations. To maximize natural light, JLGA created a central circulation spine, placing imaging rooms in the building’s interior and opening laboratory spaces to the exterior. This layout fosters collaboration by providing a shared core workspace for the hospital's researchers. The design includes five exam rooms, an administrative office, reception area, waiting room, and medical assistant spaces, all crafted for flexibility and functionality. JLGA faced the challenge of blending practical design with aesthetic appeal, ensuring the space felt fresh, professional, and welcoming. Respecting the existing structure—specifically the original tiled elevator lobby and water fountains—required a creative approach, balancing modern elements with the existing finishes. Given the lack of a designated tenant at the project’s start, we designed a versatile space with a warm, inviting color palette and thoughtful lighting. The result is a modern, flexible environment that is both functional and welcoming, ready to adapt to any future medical practice. The space features two expansive wet lab suites, accommodating four additional principal investigators and up to 30 research assistants. The renovation includes upgraded mechanical and electrical systems, as well as enhanced support spaces and equipment rooms. Thoughtfully integrated biosafety cabinets ensure the secure handling of potentially hazardous materials, reinforcing the facility’s commitment to both innovation and safety.
