JLGA recently completed construction of a new Cardiac Cath Lab suite that expands the interventional radiology procedure capacity at a leading NYC healthcare system’s Brooklyn hospital. The renovation converted existing administrative and library space in the hospital to create two new IR procedure rooms, with planning for a future third procedure room included in the project scope.

The pre/post procedure area was designed to suit the new radial lounge recovery model, with a combination of patient bays and a modernized recovery area, where patients can walk around while being monitored via telemetry by a centralized staff observation area. The 7,100 SF suite also includes all FGI required program elements, including a public waiting room, ADA toilets, and various clinical and staff support spaces.

The design team worked closely with the practitioners and equipment vendor to accommodate all architectural and systems requirements for the new catheterization equipment being installed in the procedure rooms. The new Cardiac Cath suite nearly doubles the hospital’s capacity for catheterization procedures in service of ensuring access to care for all patients in the Sunset Park neighborhood and beyond.
