JLGA designed new offices for NYU Langone’s Medical Records staff and relocated Human Resources department. Design and logistical challenges included flood damage, corridors with low ceilings, lack of natural light, loud HVAC units, and what was overall outdated, dark, and gloomy space.
Since adjacent floors and spaces would be occupied during construction, JLGA designed and managed this project in phases.
The design began with a carefully considered programming process. By removing walls and opening up areas to be more spacious, and introducing glass walls, the JLGA design team brought natural light into the dark interior spaces – even to the dreary hallways.
The final program and design, optimized the space to ultimately accommodate more staff and work space than the same space had previously. Other key elements of the design included the creation of new, contemporary reception and waiting area.
